Ryan Walser
HKN Professional Biography
Ryan M K Walser is a senior in Computer Engineering at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. His academic interests are focused towards software engineering. He enjoys programming in C, C++, and Python. Currently, Ryan is the Firmware team lead for the Smart Campus Energy Lab (SCEL), a TA for EE160, a member of the MicroMouse Executive Board, and the Pledge Master of the Delta Omega Chapter of IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu (HKN). He is expected to graduate in the Spring 2016 semester and plans to move to California to work as a Software Engineer for Raytheon's Space and Airborne Systems division. His hobbies includes playing tennis, going hiking, watching anime, and playing video games.
Q: What video game / movie / TV show would you want to live in and why?
I would live in the Kingdom Hearts universe so I can visit both my favorite Disney and Final Fantasy worlds.
Q: Where is your hometown and favorite place on the island?
My hometown is Aiea. My favorite place on the island is the top of Stairway to Heaven.
Q: What would you like to accomplish the most from your “bucket” list?
I would like to visit the (original) Seven Wonders of the World.
Q: What inspired you to join HKN?
I joined HKN because it provides students with the opportunity to gain skills that will help them develop into professionals.
