Sorapong Khongnawang
HKN Professional Biography
Ever since he was a child, Sorapong Khongnawang was fascinated by how electronics and computers work. Now a senior at University of Hawaii at Manoa, Sorapong is pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, with his focus on software development. He is currently interning at Sanjole as a hardware/software engineer, a web developer at Kaleo, a software developer for Smart Water Heater project (under Professor Mathias Fripp supervision), and the Bride Correspondent of the Delta Omega chapter IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu (HKN). After graduating, Sorapong plans to work as a Software Developer for several years and then return to UH for a master’s in Computer Engineering with an emphasis on research in Artificial Intelligence.
When he is not in school, Sorapong enjoys playing saxophone in the University of Hawaii at Manoa symphonic band. His hobbies include weight lifting and playing video games.
Q: What video game / movie / TV show would you want to live in and why?
If I could pick a movie to live in, I would probably want to live in Star Trek. I am fascinated with space travel and I want to explore the galaxy.
Q: Where is your hometown and favorite place on the island?
Hometown: Khonkaen, Thailand
Favorite Place on the Island is my Liliha neighborhood, in Honolulu
Q: What would you like to accomplish the most from your “bucket” list?
I want to develop a successful mobile application and doing A.I. research on a side
Q: What inspired you to join HKN?
I joined HKN because if the club’s prestige and the quality of the other members; I noticed that the people in HKN are ambitious and hard working. Because I am a serious student myself, I wanted to be around people who are like me.
