Blaine Furman
HKN Professional Biography
My name is Blaine Furman. I’m currently a Senior in Electrical Engineering in the Electro-Physics tack. My current academic interests are focused in many things, but mostly high-level computing for large data workloads and FPGAs/Circuit Design. My dream has always been to work as a Hardware Engineer or Network Engineer. My hobbies are pretty far and wide, but for the most part I enjoy collecting and restoring vintage computers, messing with embedded systems/analog devices, learning programming languages, reading technical docs/watching documentaries, and if time allows playing a staple in my gaming career, Call of Duty Custom Zombies. Q: What inspired you to join HKN? In High School I wasn’t the best of students, but I decided that college would be the best time to give it the best I have. I didn’t ever think I could get into an Honors Society like HKN, but when I got the invitation, I knew it would help me meet like minded individuals who are also interested in the same subjects as me and make me continue to strive for my best. Q: Where is your hometown and favorite place on the island? I was born and raised in Kaneohe. I think it’s my favorite place on Oahu because it’s relaxing and void from the city life that Honolulu and Waikiki produce. Q: What video game / movie / TV show would you want to live in and why? I think if I were to live in a video game, I’d like to live in Katamari Damacy. I could only imagine rolling small little things into a ball for score in real life. Q: What would you like to accomplish the most from your “bucket” list? I think if I were to boil them down into a few, I would want to travel the world and go skydiving. |
