Holmescoming 2018 Friday, October 5, 2018 On September 29, 2018 at 10:00am-2:00pm the HKN Delta-Omega chapter held a Holmescoming game making meeting to prep for Holmescoming, an annual fundraiser event held by the Engineering Alumni Association at the University of Hawai'i to benefit the College of Engineering student organizations. The event was held in Holmes Hall 411 and was attended by HKN pledges and members. The game that was being built utilizes Arduino and has two players hit a specific colored button, out of three, randomly indicated. The player that reacts faster and hits the specified colored button first receives a point. The game then cycles again for a certain amount of rounds until an ultimate winner is declared. HKN pledges split into two groups; One focused on making the display board and the other focused on making the button setup and wiring. The display board team spray painted a wooden board with black chalkboard paint, drew the HKN logo, and cut LED lights to be placed onto the board. The buttons team spray painted, drilled, and designed containers to place the buttons on top of while hiding the wiring inside. Overall, the event was very productive in that we nearly finished the physical setup of the game with the exception of the LEDs that are waiting to be soldered.
