Jaimie Obatake
HKN Professional Biography
Jaimie Obatake is a senior majoring in electrical engineering in the systems track. She is a member of the Smart Campus Energy Lab's (SCEL) forecasting team and a student research assistant experimenting with microbial growth in a non-instrumented incubator. This year, she continues participating on the IEEE board as co-treasurer. Her academic interests include machine learning, image processing and algorithms. After graduating, she hopes to find a job at a bioengineering company, or pursue graduate studies in biomedical engineering. In her free time, she enjoys baking and cooking, and watching Japanese dramas. Q: What inspired you to join HKN? Being a part of IEEE has allowed me to meet many students and professionals, so I wanted to expand my relations by joining the honor society. Q: Where is your hometown and favorite place on the island? I grew up in Honolulu. My favorite place on the island is Lanikai Beach - with a poke bowl. Q: What video game / movie / TV show would you want to live in and why? I love animals, so I would want to live in the movie "The Secret Life of Pets". Q: What would you like to accomplish the most from your “bucket” list? I would love to study abroad in Japan again to study biomedical engineering and the Japanese language and culture. |
