Christie Obatake
HKN Professional Biography
Christie Obatake is a senior majoring in computer engineering at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and pursuing a certificate in Japanese. She is currently the project manager of the Smart Campus Energy Lab (SCEL) and the Vice President of the Delta Omega chapter of Eta Kappa Nu (HKN), the electrical and computer engineering honors society. Her academic interests are in programming, scripting, and algorithms. After graduation, she will be working on the mainland as a software engineer. In her free time, she enjoys learning about Japanese language and culture.
Q: What video game / movie / TV show would you want to live in and why?
I would like to live in the movie Despicable me, so I have cute minions to help me with new products/experiments for engineering.
Q: Where is your hometown and favorite place on the island?
My hometown is Honolulu. My favorite place on the island is any food or tea place.
Q: What would you like to accomplish the most from your “bucket” list?
I would like to travel all over Japan- from Hokkaido to Okinawa.
Q: What inspired you to join HKN?
I was inspired to join HKN because of the volunteer activities and networking opportunities with various engineering firms.
